JUDY'S FAVORITE SUGAR NUT STICKS
2 CUPS FLOUR
1 TBLSP SUGAR
3/4 CUP MARGARINE
¼ CUP MILK
1 EGG, BEATEN
½ CUP SUGAR
¼ CUP MARGARINE
¼ CUP RAISINS
¼ CUP CHOPPED NUTS
1 TSP ALMOND EXTRACT
GLAZE:
MIX ½ CUP POWDER SUGAR AND 1 TBLSP WATER UNTIL SMOOTH
MIX FLOUR AND 1 TBLSP SUGAR. CUT IN ¾ CUP MARGARINE UNTIL PARTICLES ARE THE SIZE OF SMALL PEAS. STIR IN MILK AND EGG UNTIL DOUGH FORMS A BALL AND CLEANS SIDE OF BOWL. DIVIDE DOUGH IN HALF. ROLL HALF OF DOUGH INTO RECTANGLE 12 X 4 INCHES OF LIGHTLY FLOURED BOARD. PLACE ON UNGREASED BAKING SHEET. REPEAT WITH REMAINING DOUGH.
HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
MIX ½ CUP SUGAR, ¼ CUP MARGARINE, RAISINS, NUTS AND EXTRACT.
SPREAD HALF OF SUGAR MIXTURE LENGTHWISE DOWN CENTER OF EACH RECTANGLE. BRING LONG EDGES OF DOUGH TOGETHER, SEAL SECURELY. BAKE 30 MINUTES. COOL SLIGHTLY AND DRIZZLE WITH GLAZE.
CUT CROSSWISE INTO 1-INCH STICKS.
