    Crispy Fried Mushrooms

    List of Ingredients


    • 8 oz. whole fresh mushrooms
    • 1/2c. all purpose flour
    • 1/2t. salt
    • 1/4t. dry mustard
    • 1/4t. paprika
    • dash of pepper
    • 1/2c. buttermilk
    • oil for frying


    Instructions


    1. Wash mushrooms and trim stems slightly. Set aside.
    2. Mix flour, salt, mustard, paprika and pepper in large plastic food storage bag.
    3. Set aside. Place buttermilk in small bowl. Dip a few mushrooms at a time in buttermilk.
    4. Place in bag with flour mixture. Shake to coat. Heat 2-3 inches of oil in deep fryer or heavy sauce pan.
    5. Fry a few mushrooms at a time 2-3 mins. or until deep golden brown, turning over several times.
    6. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with ketchup if desired.
    7. Makes: 4-6 servings.
