    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pkg. caramels
    • 2/3c. Pet milk, divided
    • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    • 2/3c. butter, softened
    • 1c. chopped walnuts or pecans
    • 1(6 oz) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits


    Instructions


    1. In top of double boiler melt caramels in 1/3c. Pet milk.
    2. In large bowl combine cake mix, nuts, butter, and remaining 1/3c. Pet milk.
    3. Stir by hand until all ingredients are moistened. Spoon 1/2 mixture into a greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
    4. Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate bits. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate bits.
    5. Then spoon remaining cake mixture on top. The heavy dough will be almost impossible to spread but oven heat will finish the spreading.
    6. Place back in oven and bake at 350 for 18 minutes or until puffed edges pull away from the pan.
    7. Cool and cut in squares.
