List of Ingredients
- 1 pkg. caramels
- 2/3c. Pet milk, divided
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 2/3c. butter, softened
- 1c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1(6 oz) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Instructions
- In top of double boiler melt caramels in 1/3c. Pet milk.
- In large bowl combine cake mix, nuts, butter, and remaining 1/3c. Pet milk.
- Stir by hand until all ingredients are moistened. Spoon 1/2 mixture into a greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate bits. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate bits.
- Then spoon remaining cake mixture on top. The heavy dough will be almost impossible to spread but oven heat will finish the spreading.
- Place back in oven and bake at 350 for 18 minutes or until puffed edges pull away from the pan.
- Cool and cut in squares.
