    SHOYU CHICKEN

    1/2 cup shoyu (soy sauce)
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup sugar
    grated fresh ginger
    chopped garlic
    chopped green onion tops
    2 lbs chicken thighs and/or legs

    In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, water, sugar, ginger, garlic,
    green onion tops.

    The chicken can be prepared in four different ways. The chicken
    can be boiled or simmered in the sauce til done. It can be baked
    in the sauce til done. The sauce and chicken can be put in a crockpot
    for 4 to 6 hours (or til done). Or, the chicken can marinate
    overnight in the sauce (in the refrigerator) and then grilled,
    basting with the sauce. I have always either made it in a crock
    pot or grilled it.

    The sauce is also great with beef.
