    Recipe Introduction

a fun treat to make for school Christmas parties, or to have around the house during the winter when kids and teens are looking for something hot to drink.

For each person you will need:
    1 snack size ziploc bag
1 regular size candy cane (any flavor)
    a handful of miniature marshmallows
1 packet of hot chocolate mix (like Swiss Miss)

Place a candy cane, a packet of hot chocolate, and a handful of marshmallows in each ziploc bag.
Include a copy of the following poem or make up one of your own:

"Was told you've been real good this year,
    Always glad to hear it!
With freezing weather drawing near, you'll need to warm the spirit.
So here's a little Snowman Soup complete with stirring stick,
Add hot water, sip it slow,
It's sure to do the trick!"

Besides the traditional peppermint candy canes, I've also made this with the gourmet candy canes in cinnamon and fruit flavors that go well with chocolate (cherry, raspberry, orange) I keep a supply handy all winter long and give to guests when they leave.
