DRESSING:
Oil
Vinegar
Seasonings to taste

CHILD: Wash the lettuce, broccoli and tomatoes in cool water. Dry lettuce gently with paper towels or a salad spinner. Tear lettuce into bite size pieces. Remove tomato stems.
CHILD: Rinse mushrooms gently or wipe with damp towel. Slice with dull table knife.
ADULT: Peel and slice cucumber. Chop broccoli into bite size pieces.
CHILD: Put everything in the salad bowl.
DRESSING-
Help your child make dressing with oil, vinegar and seasonings. Older children can measure, younger children can mix.
Measure 1/2 cup oil into a small jar.
Add 3 tablespoons wine or cider vinegar.
Add 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp pepper.
Other tasty additions are oregano, garlic powder, dry mustard, basil, parsley and dry onion flakes. Use no more than about 1/4 teaspoon of any until you get the flavor you like.
Close the jar and shake to mix. (Enough for 10 to 12 servings.)
