    When we young uns got tired of sour kraut, Maw'd get out a jar of turnip kraut for a change. Here's the way she made hers:


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 gallon shredded turnips
    • 1T. salt


    Instructions


    1. Fill glass jar to 1/2 inch from brim with turnips and water, to which salt has been added.
    2. Screw top down hard, then make a slight turn back. Mixture will start working in 3 to 4 days.
    3. Keep in cool place 6 weeks before using.
