    1 tsp (5mL) Mrs. Dash® Mesquite Grilling Blend
    1/2 tsp (2mL) paprika
    1/2 tsp (2mL) celery seed
    1 12 oz. (350g) smoked ham hock (approx. 1 medium ham hock)
    2 tsp (10mL) vegetable oil
    1 Tbsp. (15mL) Mrs. Dash® Mesquite Grilling Blend
    1/2 tsp (2mL) celery seed
    6 cups (1.5L) water
    1 1/2 lbs (750g) mixed (mustard and turnip) greens, cleaned, torn in bite-size pieces
    2 Tbsp. (25mL) granulated sugar
    Garnish Suggestions: Chopped tomato, cider vinegar, chopped or sliced green, white, or red onions

    Recipe




    1. Combine 1 tsp (5mL) Mrs. Dash® Mesquite Grilling Blend, paprika and celery seed.

    2. Coat ham hock with Mrs. Dash® Grilling Blend mixture.

    3. Heat oil in 4 Qt. (3L) Dutch oven; sear ham hock 3-4 minutes on each side.

    4. Add water to hot pan, and bring to a boil.

    5. Add remaining Mrs. Dash® Mesquite Grilling Blend, and celery seed.

    6. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 1 hour or until ham hock is tender.

    7. Add greens, cover. Continue cooking over low heat 1- 1 1/2 hours or to desired doneness.

    8. Stir in sugar.

    9. Remove ham hock, cut into piece, and mix into greens.

    10. Serve greens with cider vinegar and chopped tomato, if desired.
