1 crusty loaf European-style bread, sliced into 3/4-inch thick slices
3 to 4 tomatoes, cut in half crosswise, as needed
2 to 3 garlic cloves, unpeeled and cut in half, as needed

Recipe
Toast the bread slices on both sides under the oven-broiler or on the grill. Rub the cut side of garlic on one side of each slice of toasted bread. Rub cut tomato half over the same side of the bread until well coated with tomato. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil (about 1 teaspoon each) over each slice of the tomato-coated bread. Sprinkle with salt and cut into serving size strips. Serves 8 generously.
