    1 qt. milk
    4 cinnamon sticks
    1/3 c. uncooked white rice, ground to a powder in a blender
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 T. vanilla extract
    2 qt. water

    Recipe



    Place the milk and cinnamon sticks in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 min. Remove from heat and let sit for 15 min. Lift out the cinnamon sticks and set them aside for later use. Combine the ground rice, sugar, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Pour in the cooled milk mixture and the water and whisk to incorporate well. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Then pour the liquid into a pitcher, discarding the sediment that has settled on the bottom of the bowl. Serve over cold ice, using the reserved cinnamon sticks as stirrers.
