Buttery Scones and Raisins

2 cups plain or all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup or 1 stick cold butter, cut into 8 pieces
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sultanas or golden raisins
Recipe
Preheat the oven at 425 degrees
In a large bowl of an electric mixer, beat together the first 6 ingredients until butter is the size of small peas. Beat in the buttermilk until dry ingredients are just blended. do not overbeat. Stir in the sultanas
Spread mixture evenly into a 10 inch circle on a greased baking sheet. Cut through the dough to form 8 wedges.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or until top is golden brown.
Scones can be made earlier in the day and heated before serving.
Scones freeze well.
