    Sour Cream and Cheese Yeast Bread

    1 package active dry yeast
    1/4 cup hot water
    2 1/3 cups unsifted flour, divided
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1 cup sour cream
    1 egg, beaten
    1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper

    Preheat oven to 350F. Dissolve yeast in hot water in large bowl. Add 1 1/3 cup flour, sugar, salt, soda, sour cream and egg. Blend 30 seconds on low speed. Stir in remaining flour, cheese and pepper. Divide batter evenly between 2 8 x 4 inch greased loaf pans. Let rise about 1 1/2 hours or until doubled. Bake 30 minutes.
