1 stick cinnamon
12 whole cloves
Peelings of 2 oranges, cut into thin slivers
Peelings of 2 lemons, cut into thin slivers
6 sugar lumps
8 ounces brandy
2 ounces curacao
1 quart strong black coffee
About 1 dozen 8-ounce stemmed goblets, mugs or cups
In a brulot bowl or chafing dish, mash the cinnamon, cloves, orange peel, lemon peel and sugar lumps with a ladle. Add the brandy and curacao and stir together.
Carefully ignite the brandy, stepping back, since the flame might flare up, and mix until the sugar is dissolved. Gradually add the black coffee and continue mixing until the flame flickers out.
Serves 10 to 12
