1 fifth cheap vodka
1 pound sugar
2 quarts very ripe and freshly picked strawberries



Recipe



Clean berries but leave whole. Alternating berries and sugar, place in a one-gallon glass jar. Cover mixture with the vodka. Cover with plastic film and screw down lid tightly. Put in cool part of basement and when berries rise to the top, turn upside down. Rotate monthly for six months. Open and strain. Bottle in decorative bottles and serve as a cordial or mixed with champagne. Makes a great gift.
