    Maple Scones

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup Chopped pecans
    2 1/4 cups Flour
    1 teaspoon Baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon Salt
    1/3 cup Maple syrup
    3/4 cup Whipping cream

    Creamy Maple Topping:
    1/3 cup Butter -- softened
    1/4 cup Maple syrup
    1/4 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Roast the pecans in a baking pan for 5-7 minutes. In a food processor, process 1/3 cup of the pecans until fairly well ground. In a bowl, combine the pecans (chopped and ground), flour, baking powder and soda, and salt. Stir in the whipping cream and syrup until mixed. Increase oven to 425F. Grease a baking sheet. Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface or pastry board and knead for 30 seconds. Pat the dough into a 10 inch circle on the greased baking sheet. Make 4 criscrossing cuts in the dough with a sharp knife (to divide the dough into wedges). Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

While scones are baking, beat the butter with a mixer in a small bowl until fluffy. While mixing, slowly add the maple syrup and cinnamon. Mix until well combined. Serve with the warm scones.
