Cheesy Bacon and Apple Muffins

2 c Sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 c Sugar
4 ts Baking powder
3/4 ts Salt
1 c Milk
1/3 c Butter; melted
1 Egg; slightly beaten
1/2 c Finely chopped unpeeled apple
3/4 c (3 oz.) shredded aged cheddar cheese
2/3 c Crisp bacon crumbled (about 8 slices)
In large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In small bowl, combine milk, butter and egg; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in apple, cheese and bacon crumbles. Spoon into buttered muffin cups, filling 2/3 full. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan. Cool on wire rack. Makes 18 muffins.
