    List of Ingredients

    1 medium yellow onion
    1/4 cup butter
    1 cup milk
    2 teaspoons honey
    1/4 cup warm water
    1 package dry yeast
    2 teaspoon celery salt
    2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon white pepper
    4 cups all-purpose white flour
    1 egg

Peel and quarter onion; puree in food processor. On stove top or in microwave, heat onion, butter, milk, honey, and water just till butter melts. In mixer bowl, stir yeast, salts, and pepper with about 1/2 of the flour, then add onion mix and egg. Using mixer, beat well to form soft dough. Turn dough out on floured board and knead in remaining half of flour. Place dough in a large buttered bowl, and brush the top with additional melted butter. Cover loosely with wax paper, set in a warmish, not drafty, place and allow to rise until double.

Punch dough down then knead again on lightly floured board. With rolling pin, roll ball to a rectangle with thickness of approximately 1/4 inch. Using a sharp knife cut dough into rectangles (1-1/2 x 3 inches). Turn over one end to twist in the middle and form bowtie. Place rolls on a greased cookie sheet, brush top with melted butter, and allow to rise again. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until just barely golden brown (if overbaked, much of the delicate onion flavor is lost). When you remove from oven, quickly brush top again with melted butter.
