    Sour dough:

    one cup of rye flour
    one yeast cake
    one half cup of water

    Mix, let stand overnight.

    Make sponge:

    two yeast cakes
    four cups rye flour
    3/4 can of milk
    one can of beer

    Makes two quarts of liquid.

    Heat (the following) while sponge is raising.

    One package of brown sugar
    (probobly in the small cardboard box)
    One cup of grandma's mollasas
    One cup of corn syrup (dark) and
    Crush (the following)
    Two teaspoons of caraway and
    (two of) fennel and (add) the
    rind of one orange
    Half pound of shortning and
    Two teaspoons of salt

    mix together (all ingrediants?) and
    add white flour to make the dough
    stiff enough to handle. let raise
    and make up (kneed) and raise in pans and bake
    in slow* oven until done for about 3/4 an hour.
    (*Slow probobly means 325-350)
