    3/4 cups water
    1 tablespoons oil
    3/4 cups grated cheddar cheese
    2 3/4 to 3 cups bread flour, divided
    1 package active dry yeast
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 egg white
    1 tablespoon cold water
    Sesame or poppy seeds

    Heat water, oil and cheese until very warm (120 degrees to 130 degrees). Cheese does not need to melt completely.

    In a large bowl combine 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and garlic powder. Add the warmed liquid; blend. Beat 3 minutes at high speed.

    Stir in 1 to 1 1/2 cups flour; knead 12 minutes adding flour as needed. Place dough in greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.

    Divide dough into 36 pieces. Roll each piece into an 8 inch rope; place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 20 minutes.

    Brush sticks with mixture of 1 egg white and 1 tablespoon water; sprinkle with sesame or poppy seed.

    Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
    Makes 24 sticks
