    6 T. Shortening
    1-1/3 c. Sugar
    2 Eggs, beaten
    1 T. Grated Lemon Rind (or Lemon Peel Seasoning)
    1-1/2 c. Sifted Flour
    1/2 t. Salt
    1 t. Baking Powder
    1/2 c. Chopped Nuts
    1/2 c. Milk
    3 T. Lemon Juice

    Recipe



    Cream shortening and 1 cup sugar together in bowl. Add eggs and lemon rind; beat well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to egg mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fold in nuts. Pour into greased and floured load pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until lightly browned. Cool for 15 minutes. Dissolve remaining 1/3 cup sugar in lemon juice. Pour over bread. Let stand for 10 minutes. Remove bread from pan. Excellent bread for buttered tea sandwiches.
