Lemon Tea Bread

3/4 cup milk
1 tbsp lemon balm, finely chopped
1 tbsp lemon thyme, finely chopped
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
6 tbsp butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp lemon zest, grated
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp fesh lemon juice
Recipe
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. In small saucepan, heat milk and herbs, but do not boil. Remove pan from heat and cool. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs, one at a time. Add lemon zest. Add butter mixture and milk/herb mixture to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Bake for 50 minutes, or until toothpick tester comes out clean. Cool bread on a wire rack.
Glaze: Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice until sugar is dissloved. Drizzle over cooled bread. Makes 1 loaf.
