    2 T. corn syrup (light or dark)
    1/2 c butter
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 loaf Challah or other white bread, thickly sliced & crust-free
    5 eggs
    1 1/2 c Half & half
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp Grand Marnier or other orange liquor (optional)
    1/4 tsp salt

    Recipe



    In a small saucepan combine syrup, butter, and sugar; simmer until syrupy. Pour into a 9x13 baking pan that has been sprayed with Pam. Arrange thick bread slices on top of syrup. Lightly whisk remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over evenly over bread. Let sit overnight covered in the refrigerator. Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes, uncovered. Cut into squares and serve immediately with maple syrup and butter.
