Ground Beef Hash Texas Style

1 lb. ground beef
2-3 large onions, sliced
1-2 large green peppers, finely chopped
2 cups canned tomatoes
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1 tsp. salt
1 or 2 tsp. chili powder, to taste
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 Tbsp. shortening, (can use less)
Chopped olives, optional
Recipe
In large frying pan, cook onions, and green pepper in the shortening; add ground beef and cook until meat falls apart. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into large casserole and bake at 375 degrees F. for 45 minutes or until done.
