Plum Breakfast Cake

3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine (1/2 cube)
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1-1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 fresh plums, pitted and sliced
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 Tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Recipe
In mixing bowl cream sugar, shortening, and egg until fluffy. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture and stir to blend.
Spread dough in greased 9 inch square pan. Top with rows of plums slices. For topping combine ingredients into crumble texture. Sprinkle topping over plums. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until done. Serve warm.
