Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake

1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sauerkraut, drained, rinsed and chopped very fine
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 cup water
Recipe
Melt chocolate pieces over hot water and set aside. In a small bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and set aside. In a large bowl combine the butter, sugar and vanilla and beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with water. Blend in melted chocolate. Fold in sauerkraut. Pour batter into two 8 or 9 inch cake pans evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans and let cool completely. Fill and frost with Velvet Frosting.
