1/2 Cup shortening
1 Cup sugar
2 Cups flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. molasses
1 Cup sour milk
1 tsp. soda


Recipe



Mix shortening, sugar, flour, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon into crumbly mixture similar to pie crust. Save out 1 cup of this mixture.

To the rest add the molasses, sour milk and soda. Mix well and pour into well-greased large cake pan. Sprinkle the cup of crumbs over the top.

Bake 30 minutes @ 375 degrees.
