    graham crackers or saltines to cover bottom of cookie sheet with sides
    1 cup butter or good quality margerine
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup nuts, optional
    3 (6 oz.) semi-sweet chcolate chips, more or less to your taste

    Preheat oven to 375. Spray a cookie sheet with sides with non-stick cooking spray. Line bottom of sheet with crackers. (if using graham crackers break them along the perforations to the smallest sections, (1/6 of a whole cracker), leave saltines whole) Bring butter and sugar to boil in a saucepan over medium heat, cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add nuts if using and pour mixture over cracker layer in pan. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips. Return pan to oven just long enough for chocolate to melt. Spread chocolate evenly over toffee while still hot. Let cool and break into pieces to serve.
