1 store bought Pound Cake
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz)
2 Tbsp shortening, Crisco type
Various colors of frosting
decorating tips
Cut rounded top off poundcake, and cube in even squares
Place cubes on wire cake racks on cookie sheet covered with waxed paper--(at this point you may cut cubes in half-spread with preserves and put tops back on if you wish)
Melt chips and shortening in microwave on high for 1 to 1-1/2 minutes
Cool slightly--then spoon melted chocolate over little cakes
Chill for 1/2 hour
Decorate with icing in flower patterns or other patterns of your choice (If you're not into individual decorating you may sprinkle tops of cakes with colored cake sprinkles that come in little bottles after pouring chocolate, and before refrigerating)
