2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
1 cup grits
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cream
1/8 teaspoon cayenne
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese
corn cut from 4 fresh ears
1 medium onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
Recipe
Bring milk to a boil; add butter and grits, salt; cook for 5 minutes, until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in beaten egg, cream, cayenne, Cheddar cheese, cut corn, onion, and bell pepper, lightly sautéed. Pour into 1 quart casserole bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Peeled shrimp or diced ham may be added to this before baking or served alongside.
