Swiss Green Bean Casserole

About 4 cups beans, cut in 1" pieces
2 tbls. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 tbls. flour
1/4 tsp. pepper or to taste
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup sour cream
Topping:
2 tbls. melted butter
3/4 cup breadcrumbs or corn flakes
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, grated
Recipe
Cook beans in salted water untill almost done. Melt the butter & stir in the next 5 ingredients. Add the sour cream & mix well, then heat through. Fold in drained beans & put all into a buttered casserole. For the topping, mix the crumbs with the melted butter, then with the cheese. Sprinkle over the top of beans. Bake at 400 deg. for 20 minutes or a more moderate oven for longer.
This is a great veggie side dish when having company. (about 6 servings)
