List of Ingredients
1-1/2 pounds 80 percent ground beef or 80 percent pork or 3/4 pound of each
1 medium yellow onion, chopped fine
1 rib celery, chopped fine
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (14.5 ounces) whole tomatoes, chopped fine
1 can (46 ounces) tomato juice
2 pepperonicini peppers, chopped fine
1 bottle (24 ounces) ketchup
1 shot of whiskey
2 cups of water
Spices: 1/4 teaspoon each of tumeric, pepper, salt, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, paprika (all ground) and a dash of garlic powder
1/4 cup cornstarch
Recipe
Using a 5-quart pot for cooking, brown meat with onions; drain off fat. Add all other contents except cornstarch to the pot. On low heat, simmer for 2 hours with partially covered lid. During last 15 minutes, add cornstarch to thicken, stirring constantly.
