List of Ingredients
1-1/2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup firmly-packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (Quaker)
1 12-oz. package of semi-sweet chocolate chipsRecipe
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease baking sheets.
Combine flour, salt, and baking soda & shortening in large bowl, and set aside.
In large bowl, combine the shortening, sugars, and vanilla.
Add eggs, beat with mixer, until light and fluffy.
Gradually beat in flour mixture and rolled oats. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop batter by well-rounded measuring teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden.
Cool cookies on baking sheets 2 minutes, then put directly on wire racks to cool
Yield: 7-1/2 dozen cookies
