List of Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter
16 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, broken into small pieces
4 large eggs
13/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 (1.4-ounce) Heath candy bars, coarsely chopped or 7 ounces Heath Bits
1 cup walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped (optional)
Recipe
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl, and whisk to blend.
Place butter and chocolate in top of double boiler set over simmering water and stir until mixture is melted and smooth. Move mixture away from the water and cool until lukewarm.
Beat eggs and brown sugar in electric mixer until thick, about 5 minutes. Add vanilla and cooled chocolate mixture.
Stir in flour mixture, Heath bars or bits, and walnuts (optional). Chill batter until firm, about 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two large baking sheets with parchment or waxed paper. Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto sheets, spacing cookies 21/2 inches apart. Bake just until tops are dry and cracked but cookies are still soft to touch, about 15 minutes. Cool on sheets. Store airtight at room temperature. Makes about 21/2 to 3 dozen cookies.
