1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon ginger
¾ cup molasses
2/3 cup brown sugar
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
A dash of cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
Recipe
1. Blend shortening and molasses.
2. Add sugar, flour, soda, ginger, salt, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon.
3. Shape into bars 3" wide, 2" thick and 8" long.
4. Wrap in aluminum foil and freeze at least one hour.
5. Whenever you feel like eating or at the very least smelling these wonderful cookies, slice off in 1/8 of an inch slabs.
6. Bake on un-greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
