Norwegian Kringla

Recipe Introduction
These aren't real sweet, we put butter on one side & they are delicious. Kringla means eight in Norwegian - the shape of these cookies.
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter (softened)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt Recipe
In large mixer bowl combine sugar and margarine; beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (2 to 3 minutes). Beat in eggs.
Combine baking soda and buttermilk.
At low speed add buttermilk, sour cream and vanilla to butter mixture, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
Stir in all remaining ingredients; mix well.
Cover; chill in freezer until firm enough to handle.
Heat oven to 450°.
On well floured surface, roll rounded teaspoonful dough into pencil shape (6 to 8 inches long).
Form into figure 8 or pretzel shape.
Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheets.
Bake for 5 to 6 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool.
6 to 7 dozen cookies
