    1-1/2 cups unsifted flour
    2/3 cup sugar
    3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) cold butter or margarine
    1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 (14-ounce) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT EVAPORATED MILK)
    1 egg
    2 cups almonds (toasted and chopped)
    1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    1 teaspoon solid shortening

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press onto the bottom of a 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Melt one cup of the chips with sweetened condensed milk. Remove from the heat and cool slightly. Beat in egg. Stir in almonds and extract. Spread over prepared crust. Bake 25 minutes or until set. Cool.

    Melt the remaining 1/2 cup chips with shortening. Drizzle over the bars. Chill 10 minutes or until set. Cut into individual bars. Store covered at room temperature. Makes 24 to 36 bars.

    Tip:
    Serve in decorative, colorful paper "cake cups" or wrap in ribbon for a festive gift.
