Cabbage and Potatoes

medium head of cabbage
6 -8 medium-sized potatoes
salt to taste
1 qt water or broth
pepper taste (optional)
1/2-1 tsp caraway seed (optional)
1/2 tsp fennel (optional)
Recipe
Cut cabbage into 1-2 inch-wide wedges. Place in slow cooker.
Wash and quarter potatoes. Do not peel. Add to cabbage in slow cooker.
Add salt and mix well. Add optional pepper, caraway seed and fennel, mix well.
Cover. Cook on high 2 hours, and then low 6-8 hours, or until vegetables are tender.
Note: For variation, you can add 2 pounds of smoked sausage to slow cooker as well.
