    Banana-Pecan Spice Cake

    1/2 C. finely chopped pecans
    1 (18.25 oz.) pkg. spice cake mix
    1-1/3 C. water
    1/3 C. canola oil
    3 eggs
    1 large ripe banana, mashed, about 3/4 C.
    1 C. mini chocolate chips
    3 cans (16 oz. each) vanilla frosting
    Chocolate-Dipped pecans (optional)

    Spread chopped pecans over an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 3-4 minutes; cool.

    In a large bowl, with an electric mixer at low speed, beat cake mix, water, oil, eggs & banana for 30 seconds. Scrape bowl, increase speed to medium, beat 2 minutes. Stir in cooled pecans & chocolate chips.

    Divide batter between two greased & floured 9" cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until pick comes out clean. Cool, in pans, on racks for 20 minutes; remove to racks to cool completely.

    Frost with canned (or homemade) vanilla icing, decorate with chocolate-dipped pecans if desired.
