Chocolate-Dosed Apple Pie

2 crusts for pie
3 large Cortland/Macintosh apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 Tbsp. honey, darker the better
1 Tbsp. dark brown sugar, crumbled
1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
3 pats of butter
Recipe
Preheat oven 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Add above ingredients as listed in layers (except butter). Add top crust, make 3 slices in crust for steam. Put butter pats in vents. Wet fingers with water & wash top of crust. Add aluminum sheet slices or crust protector for the edges.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes or until the bottom of crust is browned and not mushy. Lower heat to 350 degrees and cook about 25-30 minutes longer to steam insides.
Note: Use a heavy (old fashioned) glass pie plate if you have one, to better see what the crust is doing underneath.
