Chocolate Marble Pound Cake

1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
7/8 c. milk
2 1/2 c.cake flour (measured after sifting)
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 oz. bitter chocolate, melted
Recipe
Prepare a 9-inch tube pan. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating only enough to blend after adding each one. Resift flour with baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, blending quickly after each addition. Add the vanilla. Separate 6 heaping tablespoonsful of the butter, and to this add the melted chocolate.
Pour the white batter into baking pan, then drop spoonsful of chocolate mixture at intervals in the white batter. Marble in broad strokes, allowing chocolate to remain as undiluted as possible. Place in preheated oven, 350°. Bake 40-45 minutes. Cool several minutes, then invert on a cake rack.
Drizzle with melted chocolate, if desired.
