    2/3 cup shortening
    1 tablespoon grated orange peel
    1-1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
    1-1/2 cups sugar
    3 eggs
    2-1/2 cups sifted cake flour
    2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    3/4 cup milk

    Recipe



    Combine shortening, orange peel and lemon peel; mix well. Gradually add sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

    Sift together flour, baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with lemon juice and milk, beating smooth after each addition.

    Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 x 1-1/2-inch pans at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.
