    Mississippi Double Fudge Cake

    6 squares of dark chocolate
    ½ cup softened butter
    1½ cups sugar
    2 cups flour
    ½ cup sour cream
    ¼ cup extra strong coffee
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    ½ teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    Melt chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave
    (by stove top in a double boiler). Melted chocolate should be smooth (no lumps). Cool.

    Sift all dry ingredients together and set aside. Beat eggs and sour cream together. Add butter to melted chocolate and beat until smooth. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.

    To the chocolate mixture, add flour mixture, sour cream mixture, and coffee. Pour into four layer cake pans.

    For a Chocolate overload: Frost with Double Fudge Frosting. For a tamer cake: Frost with Satin Frosting.

    This is a great recipe to experiment with flavors and texture.

    Suggestions
    Substitute ¼ cup of bourbon for the coffee.
    Add 1 cup of nuts and ¼ cup of milk for a nutty cake.
    Substitute orange extract for vanilla flavor.
