Apple Butter Spice Cake

1 box Duncan Hines Spice Cake Mix prepared as directed and baked in two layers. Each layer will be cut in half to make a four-layer cake. If you freeze the cake, it is easier to slice.
Frosting Glaze:
1 stick of Butter
½ cup Evaporated milk
2 teaspoons flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe
Cook all ingredients except vanilla over a double boiler, bring to a boil, cook 8-12 minutes. Add one teaspoon of vanilla and blend. Let cool in an ice bath.
Cut cake layers in half to equal four layers. First layer, spread a thin layer of Julian apple butter on cake, but not on the side of the cake. Drizzle the cooled frosting over cake layer. Repeat this process four times. The final layer you can drizzle some of the frosting down the sides of the cake but you don’t frost the sides the way you would with a thicker frosting. This cake is very good after it has sat for a while to allow the ingredients to blend. It actually gets better the next day if it will last that long.
