1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 heaping teaspoons cocoa
1/4 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1-3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt


Recipe



Preheat oven to 350F
Grease and flour 2 9-inch cake pans.
Cream sugar and shortening, add milk, mix well. Add vanilla.
Pour the boiling water over the cocoa and stir well. When smooth add the baking soda - then stir into first mixture.
Sift the flour, add the salt. Add to first mixture and beat well.
Bake for 30 minutes or until done. When cool cover with 1 minute frosting, if desired.
