    Chocolate Almond Cake (1-Layer)

    1-9" greased and floured cake pan
    1/4 pound semi-sweet chocolate
    1/4 pound butter
    3 egg yolks
    5 Tbls sugar
    3 egg whites
    5 Tbls sugar
    1/2 cup sifted cake flour
    10 Tbls finely ground almonds

    Recipe



    1. Melt chocolate and butter in microwave or over hot water. Cool.

    2. Beat egg whites with 5 Tbls sugar until stiff. Set aside.

    3. Beat egg yolks with 5 Tbls. sugar until thick and white. Slowly add chocolate mixture.

    4. Combine almonds and flour and add alternately with egg whites to yolk mixture.

    5. Pour into pan. Bake 25 minutes and 325 degrees. Do not overbake.

    Chocolate Glaze:
    Melt 5 oz. semi-sweet chocolate and 4 Tbls butter. Add 3 Tbls water and 1 cup 10x sugar. Beat until smooth.

    Pour chocolate glaze over cooled cake and decorate with sliced almonds.
