    For the cake:
    3/4 cup Root Beer
    1 box angel food cake mix
    1 teaspoon nutmeg, ground

    For the glaze:
    1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
    2 tablespoons Root Beer

    Recipe



    To make the cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare angel food cake as directed on package, except replace 3/4 cup of water with root beer and add nutmeg. (The root beer and water together add up to the amount of liquid called for in cake directions.) Pour into ungreased 13-by-9-by-2 inch pan. (Wash pan thoroughly to remove any oil before using.) Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and cracks are dry to the touch. Remove from oven and immediately invert pan and place pan corners onto four equal-height cups to suspend and cool. Cool completely.

    To make the icing: Place powdered sugar and nutmeg in small bowl; stir until blended. Add root beer, 1 tablespoon at a time, to desired thickness. Spread over cool cake.
    Yield: 12 servings.
