The Bun
white cake recipe or mix
2 x eggs
The Burger
Favorite brownie recipe or mix
The Relish
Favorite yellow Jell-O flavor
Favorite green Jell-O flavor
The Mustard
2 x mangoes, skinned and pitted
1 1/2 tbsp powdered sugar, divided
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
The Ketchup
1 cup frozen raspberries, thawed and drained
1/2 tbsp powdered sugar, divided
To Decorate
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup almond slices
To Assemble
1 cup of white icing (made or bought)
The Bun
Using your favorite white cake recipe or mix, bake 2 10-inch round cakes.
In one cake, add an extra 2 eggs so that it rises higher.
The Burger
Using your favorite brownie recipe or mix, bake a 10-inch round brownie
The Relish
Using your favorite yellow Jell-O flavor, make one batch of Jell-O. Use half the suggested water and pour it 1/4-inch deep in a baking dish to set
Using your favorite green Jell-O flavor, make one batch of Jell-O. Use half the suggested water and pour it 1/4-inch deep in a baking dish to set
To make "relish" use a knife to cut set Jell-O into 1/4 inch cubes. In a bowl, mix yellow and green Jell-O cubes. Reserve in refrigerator.
The Mustard
To make "mustard" puree mangoes, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar and lemon juice in a blender. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and funnel into a mustard squeeze bottle.
The Ketchup
To make "ketchup", puree raspberries and 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar in a blender. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and funnel into a ketchup squeeze bottle.
To Decorate
To decorate the top half of the shamburger "bun", use a pastry brush to brush a thin layer of honey over the top of the cake made with 2 extra eggs. Place the almond slices in the same pattern as sesame seeds on a conventional hamburger bun.
To Assemble
To assemble your schamburger, start with the cake without almonds. Spread icing over top. then cover with the brownie. Squeeze mango and raspberry coulis over the brownie, then spoon Jell-O on top. Be sure to allow some of the toppings to drip down the side of the bun. Cover with the almond-covered cake and serve.
