    Crust:
    1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon margarine
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 to 3 tablespoons cold water

    Cut shortening into flour and salt until particles are size of small peas. Sprinkle in water, one tablespoon at a time, tossing with fork until all flour is moistened and pastry almost cleans side of bowl. Gather pastry into a ball; shape into flattened round on lightly floured cloth-covered board.

    Roll pastry 2 inches larger than inverted pie plate with floured rolling pin, Fold pastry into fourths; unfold and ease into plate, pressing firmly against bottom and sides.

    Prick bottom and sides thoroughly with fork. Bake at 475 degrees until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes; cool.

    Chocolate Filling:
    1 cup sugar
    2 heaping tablespoons cocoa
    2 heaping tablespoons flour
    3 eggs, separated
    1� cups milk
    1 tablespoon margarine
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Reserve egg whites to make meringue topping. Mix together and heat other ingredients until thick. Remove from heat and cool. Pour into baked pie crust and make a traditional meringue; top filling with meringue and brown.
