    Cold-Oven Pound Cake

    1 cup butter or margarine
    1/2 cup shortening
    3 cups sugar
    5 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder
    Dash salt
    1 cup milk
    2 teaspoons vanilla

    Recipe



    Grease large tube pan and line bottom with parchment paper.

    In large bowl, combine butter, shortening and sugar until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly add to creamed ingredients alternately with milk. Mix in vanilla.

    Pour batter into prepared pan. Place in cold oven. Set temperature to 300 degrees. Bake for 1 hour. Increase oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake for 30 minutes, or until done. (Do not open oven door during baking time.)
