    Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie

    Crust
    11/3 cup flour
    ½ teaspoon salt
    ½ cup Crisco
    4-5 tablespoons cold water

    Mix the flour, salt, and Crisco together. Blend very well. Then add the cold water. Knead the dough. Roll dough on floured pastry board. Put into pie plate.

    Pie Filling
    ½ cup sugar
    3 tablespoons all purpose flour
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    6 cups of chunked, peeled apples (I prefer to use Jonagold and Fuji apples)
    1 recipe crumb topping (see below)
    ½ cup chopped pecan
    ¼ cup caramel topping
    1½ ounce of TLC (tender loving care)

    1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
    2. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated.
    3. Transfer apple mixture to the pie shell.
    4. Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture.
    5. Cover edges of the pie with aluminum foil.
    6. Bake in preheated 375o oven for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and put back in oven for another 25 to 30 minutes without the foil.
    7. Remove from oven. Sprinkle the pie with chopped pecans. Then drizzle the top of the pie with caramel.
    8. Cool the pie on a wire rack.
    9. Enjoy!! Serve warm or at room temperature. (Tastes great when served al a mode.)

    Crumb Topping
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    ½ cup all-purpose flour
    ½ cup quick cooking rolled oats
    ½ cup better

    Stir together the brown sugar, flour, and oats. Cut in ½ cup of butter into the topping is coarce. Set aside.
